The Keys to a Successful Family Living
Having a family is never easy but if you know how to respect each other, practice self-discipline and even having open lines of communication with one another then everything will go smoothly. Don’t equate peaceful with the term silent for, these two things are entirely different especially when you talk about a successful living. Living harmoniously with your family means you respect individual differences among family members, you know your limitations and you can effectively communicate your thoughts and feelings.
1. Respect for Every Family Member
Appreciation is also vital in a family, as much as possible family members must know how to acknowledge these achievements after all appreciating the efforts of your loved ones means affection. One of the best ways to do this is respect their personal space, ideas and even their emotions. Take for example, if a particular member of your family feels lonely then you must not let it pass and just leave them alone. Ask them what’s going on and the reasons why they are having such gloomy face. Don’t feel like you have to do something in order to fix the problem because this is their own battle, what you can do is to be their for them and give them support in anyway you can.
Another form of respect is being polite to everybody. Even those simple thank you and please is already a sign of being polite. You can even ask them how did their day turn out and just listen to what they are sharing.
Showing respect to one’s ideas mean you have to constantly agree with what they are saying. People have their own thoughts on something and so it is vital to share yours too. There are times when your kids come up with superb concepts but there are times too that their thoughts are not that good. When their ideas may seemed inappropriate, this is where an adult’s perception comes in handy. The perspective of children is very different from the adults. Learning something doesn’t always mean you have to listen from a more knowledgeable person, people with the same age as yours sometimes listening to your kids is a good avenue for learning. It is also a good thing if you are able to explain why a particular concept will not do good but nonetheless you can let them explore and apply their ideas as long as it won’t harm them.
But the sad thing is people seemed to disregard the age of the person they’re talking to that is why respect is vital thing in one’s family. One of the common reasons why people don’t bother listening to what others has to say is that they feel like the ideas they have are just senseless and absurd. Those people have their own course of life to follow, sooner they’ll realize how important it is to respect one another and this should start within the family.
